Things fall through the cracks

Things I need to do end up scattered across different places, and some get lost along the way. When I finish something involving another person, I forget to set up the next step, and the follow-up never happens. I lose track of commitments I've made to other people, or things other people said they'd do for me. I sometimes discover a deadline or commitment I completely forgot about.

There's too much to do and I don't know where to begin

I have too much happening and I don't know where to start. I sometimes don't know what the next clear step is for a task. Different kinds of work require different energy and focus, but my list treats them all the same. My motivation to do a task sometimes doesn't align with what I feel I personally need to do. My calendar sometimes confuses me with a combination of important and unimportant or committed and uncommitted events. Recurring future events sometimes fill my schedule restricting planning options.

I can't find what I need when I need it

I sometimes can't find the task that I need to work on. It's sometimes inconvenient to look up the context for a task that I need to work on. I look something up and then lose focus on what I was working on before. I have useful photos and files supporting my activities but can't find them when I need them.

Keeping up with people and commitments can be challenging

My activities and commitments with people are challenging to keep track of. When I hand something off to someone, I lose track where it stands. I forget important details about the people in my life. Entering information about people and places is a burden to me. Looking up information about people and places can be inconvenient and time consuming.

Capturing and entering tasks is a chore

I don't want to lose non-actionable ideas and information. Typing tasks is slow and inconvenient, especially when I'm away from my desk. After I capture a task, I still have to figure out where to put it and how to index it. Entering task information takes too many steps.

The tools I've tried haven't been working

I currently spend too much time entering and organizing my task information. I have difficulty keeping up with the review process necessary for my current organizational system or software. I haven't received enough direct personal support from the tools I've used. The software tools I've used were hard to set up and keep organized. Starting a new tool means re-entering all of my data, and I dread that long grind before I ever see results. Reorganizing and editing my setup takes too many steps, so I just live with the mess. I never discover the features that would help me most; they're buried in menus I don't know to open. The software I've tried didn't work well across all of my devices, computer and phone.

It can be difficult to see the big picture

I can't see all of my responsibilities laid out in one place. I can only see a few tasks at a time, so I sometimes miss the patterns and actual scope of what there is to do. I can't easily look ahead to see what's coming in a specific part of my life. I typically see my tasks from a simple perspective such as when they are due, so I miss different ways of interpreting their value. I don't know the actual number of tasks I have to do at any given time.

My scheduling practices could use improvement

Pre-scheduled recurring tasks can sometimes become a burden that I can't keep up with. I am sometimes bothered by reminders and premature start dates for tasks when I'm not ready to deal with them. I don't always remember repeat activities and commitments that are scheduled in the future. I sometimes forget and find it inconvenient to track tasks which I decide to do in the moment. When I can't get to something today, rescheduling it is too much effort so I just leave it overdue. I wish that I could quickly demote some scheduled tasks to the top of a next actions list to do ASAP. Rescheduling a task takes too many steps.
